INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE INTERMODAL DRIVER DATABASE (IDD)
New Information —
Intermodal Driver Database (IDD)
Driver Pin Field
BNSF has announced that they will rely on this Drivers Database for access to their facilities beginning 31 March 2007.
BNSF requires that a driver record has a PIN number for the driver record to be forwarded to them.
BNSF will not have any information on a driver without a PIN number.
This number is a unique code assigned by your company to your drivers.
PIN codes can have these characters: Letters A-Z Numbers 0-9. It is recommended that they be a minimum of 4 characters and a maximum of 10. Drivers will need this PIN when using BNSF facilites with automatic kiosks. Make it easy for them to remember.
If a driver is registered without a Pin Number, the system will assign on automatically so the record is included on the feed to BNSF. Companies are encouraged to check the IDD periodically to ensure that their driver information is up to date an accurate. You can also change the system assigned pin numbers to something more familiar that is easy for your drivers to remember.
Future Fields
Additional fields have also been added to the IDD Driver record. These are for future use. You do not need to make any entries in these fields now. The fields, for Owner/Operator Drivers, are:
- Tractor License (for Owner/Operators)
- Tractor State
- Tractor RFID (If available)
Some equipment providers are anticipating a future requirement to associate a driver with a tractor. The tractor may be tagged electronically. The tractor fields are to accomodate this for owner/operators. These fields are in the driver record.
At the main menu there is a selection for "Tractor Database. This allows information for "company" trucks to be entered into the IDD. This will allow any driver to be associated with a company truck in the future.
Again, these fields are for future use and you do not need to enter any information in them now.
