Uniform Intermodal Interchange & Facilities Access Agreement

The only standard industry contract that governs the interchange of equipment between intermodal trucking companies and equipment providers (ocean carriers, railroads & equipment leasing companies). Participation in the UIIA increases operational efficiencies and eliminates the need to manage multiple interchange contracts and insurance filings.

UIIA currently has over 14,000 Motor Carriers and 60 Equipment Provider signatories and is utilized for approximately 95% of all North American intermodal equipment interchanges.

The Intermodal Interchange Executive Committee is the ten-member group of participating Ocean, Rail,Motor Carrier and Equipment Leasing Company representatives that oversees the administration of the UIIA.   Click here for list of Committee members and action items as it relates to the UIIA.
